TaytaysbachBachelorette parties can be expensive, but with a cooler full of liquor in a hotel room and sharing some meals makes it a lot more manageable. We crammed 6 girls in one room, saving us $67 per person!

My trick to an inexpensive weekend is prioritizing. What do I want to do most? How much does that cost? Prioritize the rest of my weekend based on what will make me the most happy. Luckily, my favorite thing to do in the summer is sit by a pool :-)

* See more information about “household purchase” below

Making a few extra trips to various stores this weekend saved me a fair amount of money because I made returns on items I didn’t need to have.  *Joe and I decided (more like Joe had the idea and I agreed that it was very good one) to add a “household fund” to our cash withdrawal starting this month. I’ve been using the money I take out as “spending money” to buy things like cleaning supplies, toiletries, and replacing broken coffee pots,  and while it worked for nearly a year, it has recently been a huge stressor for both of us (mostly because it makes me mad and then I’m  no fun to be around, haha–hey isn’t admitting there’s a problem the first step in solving it). Maybe we are on a streak of bad luck, but we both agreed it’s better for each of us to contribute 10 bucks a month to a joint pot of money that is going to be used for boring household needs, so we can continue to enjoy life and don’t accidentally slide into overspending without regulation as we attempt to stay sane :)

I guess I know who wears the smarty pants in this relationship, but I’m glad he puts them to good use! Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Easter

A great morning with James followed by egg decorating and roasting a turkey…yum. I love Easter!

I recently celebrated a birthday. I put some of my birthday money toward debt, and saved some for me to enjoy!

Hope you had a great weekend!

*We only had to pay $4.50 a piece for our Hockey tickets because some of our friends won a raffle and were generous enough to share the wealth. This is an example of taking advantage of cheap fun even if it wasn’t in your original plan :)

The birthday sign was a classic touch, haha :)

I had a weekend that was much more fun that usual (sadly, there is usually more laundry and less adventure), and I hope everyone else had a fantastic weekend as well! A huge thanks to the crew at Rainbow Ryders for the awesome hot air balloon ride. It was an unforgettable birthday experience :)
